Improving concentration for Parkinson's sufferers
There is no shortcut to improve memory and brain function as it takes time, but there is a lot you can do on your own to nourish your brain and have good concentration. To do this it is best to start with a healthy body. Here are some suggestions on how to develop good brain function and improve your memory and concentration. It suffices to say that an unhealthy or unhappy person may not like the space he is in and that it will be harder for him or her to concentrate. The experience is different for everyone.
• For people who love reading, this is a plus as they are naturally concentrating for longer periods of time on what they are doing and have an edge over those who do not read at all. If you are reading too slowly, read aloud so you can hear the sound on your ear. It will force you to concentrate.
• Play word games such as Boggle and Scrabble where you are learning new words all the time and are retaining them in your memory.
• Crossword puzzles are also good as it requires concentration to come up with the answers.
• Play some mathematical games even if you don’t like it. You want to exercise all parts of your brain.
• Eat the right nuts and seeds such as walnuts, almonds, flax seed, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, pecans, and red raisins. Put a tablespoon of all of these ingredients into a grinder and spread the powdered nuts over three fat dollops of Greek yogurt and pureed apple or mango. This is delicious and can replace either breakfast or lunch. Eat the right kind of food to develop a sound mind.
• Whichever way you decide to go, practice your concentration routine and do it regularly as it will keep your brain in shape.
• Get a friend to walk with you three or four times a week for at least forty minutes. Parkinson’s and other ailments entail stiffness and it will be good exercise for you. The walking will also help with constipation as this apparently is part of Parkinson’s. Walk your way to wellness and do it every day.
• Meditation is a great way to calm down, relax, and concentrate. Pick a quiet spot in your room and sit down and close your eyes. Think about anything, such as visualizing yourself as a young woman lying on the golden sands of a beach. Feel the sun on your body and listen to the rhythm of the waves. Continue the visualization until you feel totally relaxed.

Best writing sites for online writers
After two years of searching and trying out different sites, and singing the praises of Experts Column which I will continue to do, I have now finally found the writing site that best suits me and pays me for my hard and continuous writing. And to think I came across it when I wasn’t really looking and almost let it slip through my fingers.
Comparing quality online writing sites
Don’t bother with Freelancer. You will wait until doomsday to find the right employer, the right articles, the best pay, and the best writing environment. The employers at Freelancer know that the competition is stiff and expect writers to write 500 word articles for a dollar or half a dollar. I write for five sites: Triond, Experts Column, Wikinut (deader than a door nail site) but I have almost a pound invested there, Red Gage, Bukisa, and now Knoji. All these sites are easy to navigate and have their own little perks. Knoji is the big cahuna providing you can write quality articles which are carefully reviewed before being approved. When you start with them you have to write five successful articles one after the other to qualify for a bonus; this besides getting paid for the article. If one of the five articles gets rejected, you break the chain and have to start at the beginning. At five successful articles in a row, your account is upgraded, you publish the work yourself and instantly, and get paid really well.
Getting Started
A good way for a newbie to start is to first make sure you understand what is required of you; writing that informs, quality writing, good grammar, no mistakes, proper formatting, and writing about subjects that are prevalent and people want to know about. Some writers have the nerve to apply for a writing job and do not even bother to read over their work before submitting. Poor writing, poor information, and mistakes will not be tolerated at Knoji. Do your research well. Working at Knoji requires that you have interesting information to share with your readers. They pay for writing comments, answers and other tasks. They are by far the best writing site in my estimation. At Experts Column I have already accumulated $9 plus in three weeks. I have vowed to earn $30 a day within the next two months. Don’t forget; this is passive income and will be paid to me for as long as I live.

Giving alms to beggars at intersections
Some of us complain about beggars all the time. What about living in a place like India where hordes of little children run up to you when you come out of a building and are clamoring around you in the street for a rupee or two? We don’t have India’s problem with beggars. Here the beggars can be givers themselves. It’s amazing what people will tell you when someone runs up to your car at an intersection when they don’t want to give. Yes, the beggar is a nuisance at intersections, but many of them ask to do your windows or try to sell you a bag of oranges of avocados. They will say beggars are choosy, or that someone should get rid of them. What’s up with the stinginess? Cape Town would not be the same without them. You have a job or a partner who brings home money from his job as an architect or a plumber and don’t have to worry as you will probably have a juicy steak with roast potatoes for supper.
Twenty rand is all it takes.
Buy yourself happiness for the day by giving a complete stranger begging for something a crisp twenty rand note and see what happens. He will bless you and your mother and your dead uncles up and down and you will feel really good. What is twenty rand to you? It is nothing, but to the beggar it might mean the difference between going to bed with an empty stomach and feeling good. Don’t say that he will spend it on liquor or drugs. Give it without restriction. You might even decide to make Friday or any other day your twenty rand day. Have loose change in the car; not five and two cents, but five rand coins.
Incident in Toronto in the 70s
I was living in Toronto in the 70s when I was accosted by an old woman in a ratty coat and big boots and a bag on her shoulder who asked for a quarter (twenty-five cents coin) and I stopped and I gave it to her. Every day this woman would wait for me at the door of the office building where I worked as a paralegal. One day it was snowing and I had to walk some distance to my car. When I got to the car it was under snow from the afternoon blitz. I saw the bag lady and saw her getting into a cab. I was astounded. I could not even afford to take a cab but she could. The following day when I left work, I saw her again loitering on the pavement. She asked me for money. I told her I did not have. She swore at me. I was very upset. I had given her money and this was how she treated me when I did not have. For years I did not give anything to beggars, and then I started again. I realized that when I did not give, I was using the bag lady as an excuse, and I changed my thinking. Even though she was rude she still needed money and if I gave it should be with a clean and generous heart. Why not make Friday your twenty rand day?
